From: Ed Smit

Dear Entrepreneur: I wanted to share with you a bit about why I decided to develop this course. Recently I received this email from a friend asking if the quote she received from a perspective webmaster was reasonable. I thought it was outrageous. Here is her actual email:

“…Well I met w/ a web master today to develop a web site for me. This is the breakdown of pricing:

* Art Direction & Design- $1000
* Layout & Production- $500
* Code & Programming- $1500
* Launch, test & debug- $250
* CMS Instruction- has to get price- at least $500 Photos which he will enhance graphic artist (this is also for him to search instead of me)- $250

Total – $4,000
He can also design a corporate identity, brand, logo icon, color, typography – $2000.

I think this is expensive??? What do you think of this price?
I actually know him from HS & he also gave me mid-range prices so I could see that he was giving me a good price.”

I read this and was angry – this type of cost is UNNECESSARY, INFLATED and downright FRUSTRATING. I felt my friend was being swindled. Not only was this webdesigner charging inflated prices for their work but they weren’t addressing the most important element of creating a website. How to get traffic to it. I decided to take my years of experience as a computer consultant and trainer and teach people to make their sites themselves – in essence, I want to teach you how to fish rather than relying on some outside contractor who wont get the work done on time for you anyway! Join me in class – we’ll have fun!

Here’s What People Are Saying:

“Ed has taught me how to secure domains, work with web-hosting companies, and create websites. I’m able to sell products online, and I work with PayPal now all the time! I’m also able to design websites for special events. It was great fun for me to create a blog for my niece so that she could showcase her amazing collection (she took over the site at the age of 8, and has become a mighty blogger.) I want to thank Ed for his patience, his know-how, and his dedication as a teacher.”
M. Workman, New York www.speakersarena.com

“‘Everybody needs an Ed,’ that’s what I always say. I have two websites that Ed helped me to create. One, in particular, is fairly complicated and filled with creative twists. I need both of them to run cleanly and to be regularly updated with new material. Ed collaborated with me on the design, and helped me put the whole thing in motion, so I can keep all the whirs and clicks spinning quietly behind-the-scenes. But Ed is more than just that. He is my go-to guy for anything IT, from re-setting my busted BlackBerry, to hard drive crashes, to the million ‘why is it doing that?’ questions that plague all computer users. I run my own business and consider Ed to be the essential service I had to have in place before I opened my doors. Ed has never let me down. He is always patient, kind and… makes it all work.”
D. Eagle, New York Principal, Planet Communications planetcommunications.us

“Not only did Ed teach me how to create my site – he taught me about search engine optimization. Now I know that my site will get more traffic. This is something the web designers I met with earlier never even considered!”
S. Hersh, New Jersey susanhersh.com

“Ed is the kind of guy who will be there for you throughout the class – helping you and seeing you through to the end. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for his help and his knowledge.”
L. Walker, New York

“I have known Ed for more than 20 years. He is all about intelligence and integrity. It is impossible to list his many other sterling professional and personal qualities here. Ed is simply a great guy. You want him on your team.”
A. Bartolone, New York

“You saved my life…”
L. Brown, New York
